Mary sees the light… WEDS17DEC25 John McGowan
he latest Newtown ICA Christmas dinner and dance took place this afternoon
at The Parkview Hotel, and a very, very good time was clearly had by all.
An annual party for the town’s senior citizens, the mighty Thomas and Shay provided the dance grooves whilst Le Cheile Choir brought the carols.
“It was just wonderful,” says Mary O’Neill, secretary of Newtown ICA. “Everyone was in such a great mood, and the wonderful food along with the fantastic music meant we all went home happy…”
Mary was quick to thank those who performed on the day, and was full of praise for The Parkview Hotel’s management, who sponsored the meals. There was also the little matter of a massive
cake sale in the town back in September to help raise funds for today’s Christmas party.
“Our ICA guild has been in existence for 70 years now,” continues Mary, “and it’s always been about friendship, supporting local charities, crafts, arts and social outings, and just coming together.
“We meet on the first Monday of each month in the community centre here in the town, at 8pm, if anyone would like to come along and join us.”
Big thanks too, of course, to John McGowan, for catching all the Christmas craic agus roll this afternoon.
