ocal confectioner extraordinaire Loraine Gleeson has gotten in touch about her rather fine sugar rush whilst in Belfast yesterday.

There for the Northern Ireland Sugarcraft Exhibition, Ms Gleeson’s rather splendid creation won her the Gold in the Creative Freedom category.

Which shouldn’t have come as too much of a surprise for those present, given that Loraine won Silver last year with her lifelike turtle, Fred.

And the cherry doesn’t fall far from the cake, it seems, with Loraine’s 8-year-old daughter, Sophie, winning Silver in the U10s category for her Sea-themed cake.

Man, hope there was something in the house to celebrate with when they got home…
