Our Playground Is Officially Kick-Ass

Given that the whole town and her cousin has been raving about the new South Beach Playground since it opened on August 22nd, today’s official opening was a little like crowning your horse two months after it bolted and won Punchestown.

Still, there’s much to celebrate, and be thankful for, when it comes to this new facility in the town.

Not only was Niamh Egan, Jennifer Whitmore, Orla Finn and the rest of the committee pretty darn incredible for pulling this cunning plan together, but there was also the sterling work of Ruairi and the gang at Wicklow County Council, the army of fundraisers, and, of course, the greater community.

All of them with one goal – to make the community of Greystones even greater.

As if that were possible.

If there was a sense of achievement running through the air with the adults present – including Danielle from All Play, who designed the playground – for the kids there this morning, it was all about the playground itself.

Which may explain why it sounds like Woodstock in the distance here, as we catch the speeches from Niamh and Jennifer, and the master of ceremonies for the day, Simon Harris…
