n the latest campaign to highlight the importance of biodiversity in the area, local eco crusader Keith Scanlon has just landed a local walk gold star.

Turns out the Three Trout trail from Delgany to Greystones beach walk boasts the most wild flowers in bloom of any trek all across Ireland.

And not only that, this hearty trek – if you have a machete, bring it – has registered as 13th across 1,003 sites across Britain and Ireland.

For Scanlon and co, the New Year Plant Hunt survey highlights the great work being done in the area when it comes to protecting that biodiversity.

“Just as importantly, it’s also a reminder that there is still much to be done,” adds Keith, “especially given the constant loss of fields and hedges around here to so many new developments…”
