t must have been, Sergeant Anthony Flynn told Bray District Court on Monday, “breakfast gone wrong”.

He was talking about the latest arrest of 30-year-old Jamie O’Brien with an address given as 1 Blackberry Lane.

The arrest in question happened on April 4th this year, when the accused was running down a street, frying pan waving above his head whilst he shouted, “F**k off, gardaí!”.

According to a report in this week’s Bray People, O’Brien has pleaded guilty to a series of offences, including criminal damage at Bray Courthouse, failing to appear in court on July 14th 2025 and September 16th 2024.

It was on the Glen Road in Delgany on April 4th that the accused was engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour towards gardaí.

The solicitor for the defendant pointed out that his client was currently receiving 25mg of methadone, and had recently fallen off the wagon following the death of a relative. Nonetheless, after some psychological help, the solicitor claimed that O’Brien “has turned a corner”.

The court also heard that O’Brien had 39 previous convictions.

Judge Kennedy scheduled another appearance via videolink on October 6th for the preparation of a probation report, remanding O’Brien in custody.
