Paddy’s Tidy Donation To The Tidy Gang

his fine sunny Tuesday afternoon got that little bit sunnier down on the main street when Paddy and Michael stepped out to shake hands with a familiar Greystones Tidy Towns trio.

Namely, David O’Reilly, Margaret O’Callaghan and Maurice Carey.

The reason was to hand over one of those novelty but much-welcomed oversized cheques, Paddy and co having raised the tidy sum of €1,000 – to make a Tidy donation.

“Being completely voluntary, donations like this are hugely important to Greystones Tidy Towns,” says O’Reilly. “We have fundraisers throughout the year – such as the Plaza Market – but that still leaves us with two thirds of the year when we’re running on empty…”

“And we recognise the incredible work that the Tidy Towns gang do,” adds Paddy. “The town always looks amazing – not only the main street but the park, the harbour, the walk along the seafront – and that’s largely down to these wonderful people giving up their time and expertise. So, making a donation is the least we can do…”

We’ll have more on the return of the Plaza Market on June 1st. In the meantime, we get a little lowdown on today’s magnificent moolah mwah…
