t takes a very special kind of low life to steal flowers from a stranger’s grave.

But that’s just what’s been happening over at Kilquade Cemetery in recent weeks.

In the past seven days alone, we’ve had two reports of people leaving potted plants and fresh flowers on the grave of their loved ones only to return the next day to find them gone.

And you don’t have to be religious to find such an act unforgiveable, given that such behaviour is beyond any belief.

“It’s shocking to think people could behave like this,” says Kilcoole funeral director Willie Doyle. “Someone’s final resting place is a sacred place, and for someone to think they can steal from a grave is something I just can’t understand…”

Suffice to say, if you are visiting a loved one’s grave, be on the lookout for anyone leaving Kilquade Cemetery with new plants rather than withered ones.

And should you spot such a culprit, feel free to kick them squarely in the tabernacle, then nut them in the father, the son and the holy ghost.
