Seventh Heaven Down At Theatre Lane…?

The rumbles started at 7am, as the first of seven cement trucks arrived at Theatre Lane today.

The rumours started at approximately 7.01am.

Both are still going strong, as Theatre Lane’s big chief engineer David Breen and his band of merry men – and there’s seven of them altogether, just to keep the theme on track – work deep into Tuesday night, getting the venue formerly known as The Greystones Theatre one step closer to its magnificent rebirth.

It’s worth nothing that, this time, the builders are taking their time. And making sure that this new and improved Greystones landmark is going to be bigger, stronger, sexier and, well, smarter.

No one’s giving too much information away just yet, of course, but, suffice to say, before 2017 comes to a close, Greystones is going to have one state-of-the-art venue right in the heart of town. One that will cover everything from paint-splattered young kids’ art exhibitions to platinum-selling rock gods’ career retrospectives, from the Greystones Players stepping out into the light to showcases for local artists of every light, hue and shade.

But, hey, enough of our yakking. We might just end up giving too much away here.

For now, we managed to sneak down into the bowels of our local theatre this afternoon, to see just what all those trucks and troopers were up to…
