The devils went down to Greystones

he glamour was up to 11 last night at The Parkview Hotel in Newtown, as St Kevin’s 20K Drop finally arrived.

The clamour was pretty much in evidence too, given that, hey, €20,000 could come in kind of handy, given that Christmas officially starts on November 1st.

Once we get all that Halloween hoopla done and dusted.

Organised to raise money for some much-needed improvements at St Kevin’s National School, the night brought out not only the loving, caring parents of those attending the school but some big-hearted strangers too. 

Who really, really wanted to get their hands on all that lovely, lovely moolah.

We were going to tell you right here who did actually win the big money on the night, but, so far, we haven’t been able to get any of the organisers out of bed this morning to find out.

Just as soon as Phil, Naomi and any of the others do emerging blinking into this Sunday sun, we’ll get back to you.

Speak of the devil – text from Phil just now, followed by an email from Naomi. Lynette O’Gorman took home the biggest slice, winning €600, whilst Declan Murphy, Deirdre Doyle (for Liam Doyle) and Laura Geraghty scored €100, Phil (for Breda Hayes) and Jenny Smith bagged €300, Gerry Walsh scored €400 and Gavin McGowan walked out the door with €500. 

Police are still looking for him.

The framed Paul Dunne top went for €800, whilst there were over 20 spot prizes on the night too.

Fair fecks to all the sponsors too, including Mooch, Des Doyle, our beloved Brereton Carpets (we have a special bond with those guys), BBA Architects, BPT Fitness, Geoghegan Home Extensions, KBC and Ori-Derm.

In the meantime, young John McGowan was there to capture all the beautiful gamblers before the profuse sweating started…
