We’re still having a little trouble finding out who, what, why and when Tesco have worthy causes guesting in their lobby, but we managed to spot one of our favourites, the Carmelite Monastery, down there this evening.

It’s the last of three days of fundraising goodies from the rather long-standing Delgany religious order, but, fear not, there are other ways and means…

The ladies will be present at Dunnes in Newtownmountkennedy in two weeks time, but, more importantly, their calendars, candles, Christmas cards and raffle tickets are available from the monastery itself, after daily morning mass (over around 10am), and after Saturday and Sunday mass too (ditto, or thereabouts).

We spoke with the lovely Maria as her shy friend did her best to hide, to find out more…

You can find out more about the 162-year-old Carmelite Monastery – including their contact details – here, and view our interview with Sister Gwen Collins about their 146-year-old Nativity scene right here.
