St Kevin’s Wheelie Big Adventure

On yer bikes…

e missed this little beauty last weekend, which is a dang shame…

The sight of a bunch of weathered and winded parents cycling non-stop to power a big-screen outing for The Greatest Showman as their kids jeered them on sounds just like our kind of party.

Luckily, one of the organisers, Leane Keane, has the lowdown on the big day for us…

St Kevin’s National School have undertaken extensive renovations to the school over the last couple of years and ongoing fundraising has been paramount to funding this.

After the great success of the 20K Drop, we set on our way to do a Pedal Powered Cinema on Saturday 30th March in Shoreline Leisure Greystones in conjunction with Pedal Cents.

Over 70 cyclists, both parents and teachers, cycled continuously to power our movie, The Greatest Showman. It was a fantastic event, with lots of fun had by all – especially the kids who got to watch the movie. And the sweaty parents and teachers.

We are thrilled to announce we raised €20,351 for our school, all thanks to our main sponsors, BBA Architecture, DAATA, McCloskey & Co., Lotus Landscape Design, Nolan Construction, Ori-Derm, Orthos Medical, Supervalu Dalys, and Wood Group Homes, plus, all our advertisers, businesses that donated prizes, cyclists who raised nearly €11K in sponsorship, and, of course, ticket and raffle sales.

A big thank you to Charlie Sharkey too, for these great pictures taken on the day.

Our focus this year was to have an event centred around the school children with a whopping 600 audience in attendance altogether. It was amazing to see the whole school come together and support the event event.

Let’s just be glad Phil Moyles’ speedos were in the wash.
