Summer Star Awards At Greystones Library

Happy daze…

ith all their names written up on the wall of fame as you walked into the Greystones Library today, there were a lot of happy little bookworms out in the town today.

And the reason they were all gathered down at the library was to accept their awards for the Summer Star! reading challenge over the summer months.

Having registered back on June 27th, these kids set about reading as many books as they could over the summer months, keeping a record of those they’d finished, and collecting Summer Star! Reward Stamps along the way.

Naturally, we thought this must be a club for kids who can’t afford a laptop, but these smart little brats actually like reading books. Bizarre.

Handing out the awards for the day was noted gangsta rapper Jennifer W, who, much to the kids delight, wore her trademark chains, whilst the sheer number of smart kids in Greystones meant that two separate sessions – one at 10am and another at 12.30pm – had to be held to make sure everyone got their just award.

Well done to all the kids today. If you can read a whole bunch of books whilst the sun is out, holy, you’re going to plough through hundreds over the coming months, now that the rain is back…
