Sweet smell of success…

t’s mildly surreal to step into Chakra By Jaipur and not see every table brimming, the kitchens humming and the waiters zoomin’.

Then again, it’s only 5.30pm, and the only people in this award-winning Greystones restaurant are a night shift couple who pulling an all-dayer for their anniversary.

We swung by this afternoon, Monday, May 23rd 2016, to talk with Chakra’s manager, Anand, and try to find out the secret recipe to their incredible success.

I was also going to ask Anand if he’d ever fallen out of a pub, scuttered and starving, and shouted, “Oooh! I’d really murder an Irish right about now!”? – but this guy just seems far too sweet and calm to have ever been drunk, in this life, or the next.

Besides, not many restaurants specialise in Irish cuisine. There’s only so much fancy feckin’ around you can do with a spud.
