Taylor Beats Serrano. Again.

t was always going to be a tough fight, given the longstanding rivalry and how much ego (and money) was at stake, but Bray’s Katie Taylor has once again beaten Amanda Serrano.

Their third bout took place at New York’s Madison Square Garden, and it is already being described as a chess match of a fight.

In the end, two of the cards read 97-93 in favour of the undisputed light-welterweight champion Taylor whilst the third card was split 95-95.

Said Taylor, “We have made history three times,” the night being the first all-female card for Madison Square Garden. “It’s such a historic fight and a pleasure to share the ring with her. We are history makers forever.”

Puerto Rico’s Serrano did fare well in rounds six and eight, but her 39-year-old challenger kept up the pressure throughout, with a strong finish that pretty much sealed the victory.

“I think I did enough,” said Taylor of her win. “I boxed smart and well. She wasn’t catching much tonight but it was always a close contest.

“I want to thank Amanda Serrano,” finished the Bray champ. “What an amazing fighter…”
