Fancy A Break In The Kingdom?January 21, 2020
Temple Carrig Girls Hitting The Heights TooJanuary 22, 2020
After last week’s nailbiting win against Pres Bray, Temple Carrig have secured themselves a place in the Vinnie Murray Cup final with another impressive display.
It may have been a slightly slow first-half for the Greystones team but, as with last week’s match, they rallied the troops after that half-time whistle.
Rathgar’s The High School certainly showed signs of possible dominance of the game in that first half, despite Temple Carrig going ahead in the seventh minute. That early burst from the Greystones side was spearheaded by out-half Cian Leonard, who opened the scoring with a fantastic solo effort.
The loss of Howard ‘brother to Harry‘ Noonan to injury in the first half was also a setback for Temple Carrig, but they quickly brushed any possible worries aside at losing one of their finest players by hitting The High School hard in that second 35 minutes.
When the final whistle blew, with a scoreline of 21 to 14, Temple Carrig had secured their spot in the final and Round One of the Leinster Rugby Schools Senior Cup.
Big shout out to the team – Thade Shanahan, Eoin O’Neill, Cian Hingerty, Colm Condon, James Smartt, Cian Leonard, Paddy Byrne, Jordan O’Connor, Howard Noonan, Cormac Coffey, Gerhard Zdunek, Joe Barford, Cillian Burke, David Prendergast and Captain Patrick Kiernan.
Now, go get that Vinnie Murray Cup, ya fecks!
