Real gone kid… 1SEPT20
e couldn’t help but notice when Giulio’s took over Pineto’s back in July 2019, the man had a lot of
previous chippers to his name.
Not that the man himself wanted to talk about any former glories when we caught up with Giulio as he began to deck out the Greystones chipper with some of his old equipment and fittings. “Best you don’t mention those,” he said, without any explanation.
Rumour has it, the yearly rent on this main street property is €70,000. Which adds up to a lot of chips. Perhaps too many, given that there haven’t been that many drunks or schoolkids – or, most lucrative of all, drunk schoolkids – passing by since lockdown began in March.
Thankfully, a nice Moldovian couple are chomping at the bit to take over the newly vacant premises, determined to bring Greystones a bigger, better, more badass chipper.
Just where Giulio has gone, we don’t know. The man ain’t answering our emails.
