Greystones’ very own Ray Mears Tribute Act are back from their 74km charity run in sunny, sweaty Spain.
Only, it turned out not to be 74km across wild terrain, but 79km.
And, says unofficial spokesman Andrea Splendori, the mountains were “ridiculously high“, some even hitting 4,500m elevation.
Which may explain why Andrea came in last, the trek taking him 18 hours and 48 minutes. Or 10 hours and 26 minutes, if you take out the coffee breaks.
Besides Andrea, there was also Ross Thompson, Colin Fulham, Alan O’Connor, Patrik Albertsson, Toni Llovera, Liam Sweeney, George Coffey, Kevin Marshall, Chris O’Mahony, John Lane, Karl Llewellyn and Ken Kennedy. The charities they raised funds for are The Gavin Glynn Foundation, Greystones Cancer Support and The Irish Hospice Foundation.
You can still help the guys hit their target of €10,000 by donating right about here.
