t’s taken some time longer than it should, but it would appear that the good people who live on, work on and rely on Delgany’s tiny main street may finally be getting their wish.

Namely, to have it turned into a tidy cul de sac, with access to Blacklion and beyond simply 2 minutes further down the road at Delgany Wood.

“It’s what everyone has recognised as the most sensible option when the town engineer first came around with plans for a one-way,” says butcher boy Anthony Farrelly. “That would have meant a wider footpath, but also the loss of parking, and ultimately turning the main street into an access road for school runs and the big Lidl shops…”

Wicklow County Council mercifully went back to the drawing board, and came up with three options – the village people’s preferred option currently up for consideration.
