ith events taking place all across Ireland, the fifth annual Swim in Pink will be at The Cove on Sunday, October 5th.

The idea being to raise both awareness of and funds for the National Breast Cancer Research Institute.

Or the NBCRI, if you’re in a hurry.

The idea is simple enough – have a swim, splash or dip on this fine October Sunday, and just make sure you’re wearing something pink.

Organised in association with Blackrock Beachwear, registration is €25, and sure, doesn’t it come with your very own Swim In Pink swimming cap.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in Ireland, with 1 in 7 women expected to develop the disease and over 3,587 new cases diagnosed annually. Researchers funded by NBCRI, based at the Lambe Institute, University of Galway, are currently leading major national and international projects aimed at improving the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.

The swim has won many awards, and more than 5,000 swimmers have so far taken part, raising over €500,000 for life-saving research. And for those who can’t make the dip, you can join in with a Pink Breakfast – details here.
