Tragedy At The North Beach

ragedy struck at Greystones seafront this afternoon after three swimmers got into difficulty.

With the Irish Coast Guards quickly on the scene, it was actually a paddle boarder, Stephen Ryan, who first came to the three women’s assistance.

Not long after, with the Irish Coast Guard helicopter hovering above, a sea rescue was made by boat.

Sadly, not all three women were able to fully recover from their ordeal.

And now it has just been confirmed that a woman in her 50s was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second woman was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital whilst the third was treated at the scene by emergency services personnel.

Monday morning, and the deceased has been named as Bray mother of two Lynne Freeman, a teacher at Ravenswell Primary School and formerly Delgany National School.

Our thoughts are with the deceased’s family and friends at this tragic time…
