chance to talk to those in the know.And on Tuesday, October 22nd, those fine people came to Greystones, setting up talking shop in the Kilian House Family Centre beside The Holy Rosary from 4.30pm to 8.30pm.

Here’s the lowdown on the show downtown…
Have you ever wondered what services are available in your community and how they can help? Have you wondered what groups and clubs are working in your community and how you could join in? Are you looking for information in your area, or funding for your group?
Wicklow PPN, Wicklow Older People’s Council and Wicklow Volunteer Centre in collaboration with Wicklow County Council, Arklow Community Excellence and Kildare Wicklow Education & Training Board have been gathering services and groups together in each of the Municipal Districts to highlight what supports, and activities are available in the local area. 
These events aim to offer people the opportunity to engage with the Local Authority and other agencies and organisations that work with and support our communities.
The Roadshow also provides an opportunity for community groups to access training as well as information.
People are able to chat to such organisations as Kildare Wicklow Education & Training Board, Wicklow County Childcare Committee, County Wicklow Partnership, Bray Area Partnership, TFI Local Link (Carlow, Wicklow, Kilkenny), Local Library Services, Slaintecare, Healthy Communities, Local Authority Waters Programme, the WCC Climate Action & Heritage Team and more. Along with these they can meet local groups such as First Responders, GAA groups, Soccer groups, Performing Arts groups, groups supporting people with disabilities, Tidy Towns groups, Animal Welfare groups and many
more.

Bystander training provides people with the tools to step in, speak up and support others particularly in bigoted or racist situations. A climate action workshop supports people to learn about the causes and effects of the climate crisis both locally and globally, reflect on the implications of climate change on human rights, and explore how you can take simple actions now to be a positive changemaker as an individual and a global citizen.

Helen Howes, Resource Worker for Wicklow PPN said “Wicklow PPN’s role is to connect communities with local government as well as providing information that supports community groups in the work that they do. We are excited to bring all these community groups and services together in one place to connect as many people as possible and in doing so support the growth and wellbeing of communities”
Storm Pyper, manager of Wicklow Volunteer Centre added “Volunteers are the life blood of communities and their biggest asset. We are very lucky that we have such a vibrant community sector in Co Wicklow.
“However, sometimes our groups and volunteers need help, and they are unsure of who can help them. The roadshows will be a great opportunity to find out what supports are available as well as being a great networking opportunity to promote peer support.”
Carina Holmes, Chairperson of Wicklow Older People’s Council spoke about the importance of physical connection particularly for older people. “Many services and important information have moved onto online platforms. This is not always accessible to many members of our communities, particularly our older members. 
Covid also had a huge impact on restricting our physical contact and access to services and that is why we are delighted to be collaborating on these useful and welcome events.”
