Here’s comes the Twister…
fter a washed-out Saturday, it was something of a relief and delight to see
the sun shining bright down at The Bog this afternoon.
What wasn’t such a delight, unfortunately, was seeing the scoreboard at the end of Greystones United AFC’s first home game under new manager Darren Forsyth.

You invite someone into your home…
Currently in the second top division in the Leinster Senior League, Greystones took on Kilbarrack United on a fine Sunday built for football.
Our visitors were promoted as champions last season and have had a particularly good season so far. Which meant it was never going to be an easy match for the home team.
That said, Greystones United AFC have come a long way in recent years, battling their way out of regulation under previous manager, Martin Killilea – who retired at the end of last season – and a little help from new friends at Liverpool FC.
This season, the lads have already played two away games, scoring a 1-0 win over Glenville on the opening day followed by a 1-1 draw in Athlone against Willow Park FC.
Plenty of local lads on the team today too, of course, including brothers Shane and Evan Thompson, David Crosbie, Keith McDonnell, Shane Evans, Conor O’Donovan, Thomas Gascoigne, Ian Cosgrave, Niall Dwyer and young guns Fionn Melia and Michael Gray.
Also joining in the fun was former junior Ireland international Carl Forsyth, part of the home team for the coming season.
So, let’s not dwell on the lads’ 2-0 defeat today, and instead, enjoy some back o’ the net pics from our ever-reliable snapper-about-town, John McGowan.
