It’s a rainy, miserable Friday morning in Greystones, but down at Caffé Delle Stelle, Tommaso is shining like the sun for a change, a great big smile across his face, his tongue firmly in his chubby cheek.

And sure, why wouldn’t the lad be happy, having once again won our Greystones’ Best Coffee vote? A vote the lad has won every year from the very first day it launched, back in 2014.

That’s 11 title fight wins. In a row. Unbroken. Take that, Katie Taylor.

“I’m still technically the champ again this year,” he tells us, with a smirk, “given that we definitely, definitely got more votes than Spendlove’s…

“Make sure you point that out…”

For his part, Mark Atkins is more than happy to share this year’s award, given that he’s just taken over the harbour-front café from the bould Nigel.

“It’s just wonderful,” he says, as we gather outside for some quick, rain-splattered pics. “To be starting out, trying to get the word out there that it’s a new day at Spendlove’s, winning Greystones’ Best Coffee alongside Tommaso will make a huge difference.”

And it’ll make Mark’s loyal brother glad he voted so many times too. From the same IP address. The big eejit.
