Wicklow Arms Developers Release Artist Impression

Sure, you’d hardly notice it…

t last night’s crisis meeting of the Friends Of Delgany to address the planning permission granted for a major new Wicklow Arms apartment block, Before & After images of how the development will change the landscape were revealed.

And, sure, you’d hardly know it was there.

Then again, this was an image provided by the developers themselves. And they would certainly want their three-storey apartment block and attached two-storey retail and residental block to hide in plain sight.

Close to 50 people were said to be in attendance at Kilian House Family Centre on La Touche Road last night, trying to make sense – once they stopped laughing at the Before & After pictures – of Wicklow County Council’s granting of planning permission to an application that did little to address the grounds on which the previous application had been refused.

At the crux of the Friends Of Delgany’s concern is that the new development will overlook a 6th century monastic site and burial ground.

The gathering last night agreed to pursue the matter with An Bord Pleanála.
