hree was the magic number for Greystones at the Leinster finals of the Irish Restaurant Awards tonight.

Held in The Killashee Hotel (that’s in Kilcoole, right?), this annual shindig celebrates all that is good and yummy when it comes to Ireland’s many, many chomping grounds.

And as tends to happen each year, quite a few of our local chomping grounds were in the running, with multiple nominations across pretty much every category.

On the night, three of our restaurants emerged with awards and dirty big grins on their faces, Chakra winning Best World Cuisine, Daata winning Best Customer Service and Zenobia winning Best Newcomer.

Sweet as. Especially for Diana and co at Zenobia, plainly putting their heart and soul into their Blacklion venture.

When it came to the rest of the Wicklow winners, Best Emerging Irish Cuisine and Best Sustainable Practices went to the Grain Store Restaurant at Kilruddery House, Best Restaurant Manager went to Jay Johance at Pink Salt in Bray, Best Chef in Wicklow went to Angela Papkonstantinou of Grangecon Kitchen, with the same restaurant winning Best Casual Dining whilst the Best Gastro Pub went to The Hollywood Inn, the Best Café went to Hollywood Café, Best Hotel And Guesthouse went to Hunter’s Hotel (did they not hear about Margaret & co cancelling GG’s wedding booking one year later because the eejits had double-booked?), the Pub Of The Year went to O’Keeffe’s Pub, Best Wine Experience went to Ripasso Restaurant & Winebar, Best Free From went to Vital Health Cafe, and the Local Hero award went to Maggie Roche of The Little Acorn Café. Lastly but not leastly, the Innovator Of The Year went to Glen Of The Downs food truck duo The Big Boys.
