Believe in the Goode book…

t’s the largest, most comprehensive, most inclusive book on Irish ceramics ever.

And young Yvonne Leon is one of the lucky and much-loved artists sitting pretty in its pages.

Yep, the acclaimed Greystones artist has found herself included in John Goode’s just-published definitive guide to Irish ceramics. And she can’t quite believe it.

“Pinch me!” is Yvonne’s mantra for the day. “It’s just such an honour. I’m not sure what my teachers would make of all this, given that I was always told that I wouldn’t amount to much. Having undiagnosed dyslexia didn’t help, but I managed to make my way into the National College of Art & Design without the right exam results just because they really liked my portfolio…

“Well, this is another one of those moments. The fact that the owner of the Millcove Gallery liked my work enough to include me in this remarkable book, well, I think I may need to lie down.

“For a day or two…”
