he voting for this year’s finest takeaway was more than a little all over the place.

Then again, we do have a ridiculously large amount of top-of-the-range nosebags to choose from around here.

And they’ve all got their devoted – and bloated – fans out there.

From bountiful burritos to bad-ass bhajis, from fish & chips to pizza with dips, and from tantalising Thai to chomptastic Chinese, there’s something for every tummy in Greystones.

And given the widescreen voting, we turned to our foodie judges for the final decision, and they felt it was time to celebrate the town’s takeaway roots. From Pennycook’s and Parkinson’s Sharavogue to Joe Sweeney’s, all down at the harbour, the chipper has always been there when a home-cooked meal just wasn’t on the menu.

And so it is that for 2025, we have joint winners for Greystones’ Yummiest Takeaway 2025 – the magnificent Moretti’s and the jaw-popping Jokers.

We caught up with head honchos Tudor and Aquilino this afternoon to present them with their just awards.

“It’s amazing to win this,” says Aqui, “as we feel very much part of this town. There are people who have been coming through our doors for over 10 years, and each one of them feels like family…”

Tudor is quick to point out that the timing couldn’t have been better – Moretti’s will be celebrating their 5th birthday here in Greystones on October 13th…

“So, winning a prize like this is the best birthday present we could ever hope for,” he smiles. “We’ve been busy since day one, and it’s again down to the great people around here.

“We’re all very lucky to live in this town…”
