Banjos, Bovril & Booze, Baby!

Darn tootin’…

t is, of course, the greatest natural contraception known to man and chicken, and yet, there are those who love themselves a bit of banjo.

Well, you may want to get your hillbilly ass along to the Harbour Bar later this month, for their annual Banjo & Bovril trad & folk festival at the end of January.

Here’s der spiegel…

The Banjo & Bovril Festival is a revival of an old tradition Paul O’Toole Senior pioneered years ago; when short winter days were ended in the bar with a little banjo playing and some steaming cups of hot Bovril. Over the years, the festival has welcomed Paddy Casey, Seamus Fogarty, Mick Flannery, David Kitt, I Draw Slow, Mundy, The Eskies, Caoímhin Ó Raghallaigh, to name a few.

The craic this year will be provided by Josh O’Keeffe, Bog Bodies, Caoí De Barra, Óró, Caoimhín, Candlelit Tales, Shamrock Showband, Sweet Jane, The Gladstones Band and, yep, more…

Nice. Running from Thursday 29th of January to Monday, February 2nd, all shows are free. And easy. And include a full bar.
