After 10 years of ownership, Ross McParland, founder and owner of the Whale Theatre, has announced that he will retire in the summer of 2025.

This leaves the doors of the Whale Theatre open for new, fresh and exciting ideas to continue the venue’s legacy as a thriving arts hub in Greystones.

In response to his invitation for proposals, members of two local community groups, Making Waves Youth Theatre (a registered charity) and Greystones Players Community Theatre Group, acting as the Whale Working Group, are in the process of putting a proposal together, whereby invested members of the community will assume management of the theatre.

The Whale Working Group’s mission is to continue to build on the legacy that this unique entertainment amenity and arts hub has already given to the community. We propose to further develop its potential as an accessible and welcoming resource for local artists, musicians, community, business and cultural groups as a performance, educational, meeting, workshop and practice-rehearsal space.

The Whale Working Group invites members of the community in Greystones and the wider local community to participate in this proposal.
