‘Tis always difficult, for old GG, to head to the Greystones Camera Club exhibition down on Hillside every year.
All it takes is the first few framed prints to remind us that, when it comes to photography, we have a long way to go, baby.
And so it proved this year, with the great, the badass and the ridiculously good showing off some of their finer works of the last year.
It would be foolish of us to single out any one particular photographer, of course, but John McGowan will always be a favourite.
The fact that GG’s #1 roving photographer couldn’t be there in person for the opening, as he had a hospital appointment, has us saying a little prayer each night. John’s just about the finest photographer of Greystonians around. And he never gets sarcastic with them either.
The mighty photographer working the GG beat here is the groovy John Hickey [that’s him, above], and we thank the man for his fine portraits of the artists and liggers here.
Open from 11am to 5pm daily, at the Hillside Evangelical Church, the 7th Annual Greystones Camera Club exhibition runs until Saturday. So, you know, hurry!
