Yep, the craic was all the way up to 11 this afternoon in a very sunny Delgany, as the main street was turned into a blissful cul de sac, boasting a BBQ, Horse & Hound couches out on the road (mad!), local artists exhibiting their greatness –
It’s the first time in a decade that the village has shut down its main drag for a street festival, offering up the perfect opportunity for neighbours new and old to come together and compare gossip notes, grievances and rumours.

t was clear from the moment we spotted the no-expense-spent children’s
bubble machine spitting away outside Farrelly’s that we knew the Delgany Heritage Village Street Festival was going to be something special.
And it was also very apparent that people might possibly going a little crazy
from the heat and the excitement of the day when Aileen Lennon announced that her two lurchers were going to enter the 2.30pm Pooch Parade.
Despite the fact that at least one of them is very possibly possessed.
Yep, the craic was all the way up to 11 this afternoon in a very sunny Delgany, as the main street was turned into a blissful cul de sac, boasting a BBQ, Horse & Hound couches out on the road (mad!), local artists exhibiting their greatness –
including Emma Jane Rushworth’s wired and wistfully weird wonders – The Wicklow Arms celebrating 250 years of wetting our whistles, and Bear Paw going into overdrive with their homemade yummies whilst battling off some stiff competition from a cute quintet of young entrepreneurs packing their own array of irresistible baked goodies…

And for a few blissful hours, everyone was able to cross the road without crossing themselves first.
There was also a tour of Christ Church at 2pm for those keen to dig a little deeper into Delgany’s history, and you can catch that again tomorrow, on Sunday 17th, along with guided walk through the village’s past from 10am, meeting at The Wicklow Arms car park.
