Delgany’s Nick Is Picture Perfect. Again.

aving scooped two major prizes at last year’s shindig, Delgany snapper Nick Bradshaw has repeated the trick at Press Photographers Ireland 2025 awards.

His shot of Leo Varadkar’s resignation won AIB Press Photographer Of The Year in the Politics category, whilst a Sunday morning service on Bray beach came third in Daily Life & People.

A seafront service…

“Absolutely delighted to pick up a couple of fine gongs in the Press Photographer Ireland CLG Awards,” Nick tells the Guide this morning. “It’s great to make the cut in a highly contested annual competition.

“What’s even better is that two of four images selected for the touring exhibition are local. Firstly, Simon Harris and his wife Caoimhe in the Greystones count centre just as he is elected, and another image that I just happened across on Bray beach; a seafront service.”

Bradshaw’s particularly proud of his image of Leo Varadkar on March 20th 2024 at Government Buildings – following his shock resignation – triumphing in the Politics category.

“I had all of 40 minutes notice about this moment,” says Nick, “which was a stretch when you’re sitting in Delgany!”

Also making the PPI nationwide tour is Bradshaw’s snap of Cillian Murphy on the red carpet, with the on-screen Cillian Murphy looking over his shoulder.

“Variety is the spice of life,” laughs Nick about hitting so many different categories at the awards and the tour. “Ad I must mention my wonderfully supportive wife Val and family, along with my colleagues in The Irish Times.

“Couldn’t do what I love without them…”
