You cluckin’ at me…?

t’s another chance to remind ourselves of great comebacks, but Easter means there’s lots of fun and chocolate to be had out there too.

And some prayer too, of course.

For those who do like their chocolate, Paddy at Daly’s SuperValu has gone a little bunny in the head, with specials on Easter eggs all over de shop. Check ’em right over here.

For every kid who wants to be a complete basket case, Dorlindon Forest just outside Kilmacanogue have their annual Easter Bunny Egg Hunt running daily at various times from March 28th to April 12th. Details right about here, booking here.

Up at Druids Glen, they’ve got goodies galore, especially over the Easter Weekend, with their petting farm on Friday 3rd from 12pm to 3pm, surprise treats for the little ones on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th, plus a magical Easter egg hunt, a visit from the Easter Bunny and Easter Sunday lunch on the latter. Naturally, Nature’s Gold have some find vegan, agnostic, gender fluid, free range Easter eggs on offer too. Far too many to list here. So, you know, get your ass over to Killincarrick Road and check ’em out for yourself.

Down Hawkins Wood way, they’re going Full Bunny Bonkers for Easter Monday, with Copsewood Avaries bringing along all their furry friends, the Community Garden gang hosting a workshop and the bould Audrey Bradshaw unleashing some high-energy Zumba, plus a face painting and nail bar, lots of spot prizes, vintage cars, an Easter Egg Hunt and, yay, Belgian waffles! There’s a Family Fun Run and Easter Egg Hunt over at Powerscourt Church on Saturday 28th, running from 11.30am to 1.30pm, with a BBQ, cakes, teas and coffees for sale. It’s €10 per child, €5 per ‘running-walking adult’ taking part in the scavenger Easter egg hunt. A fundraiser for the Powerscourt National School, you can grab your spot here.

Andrew and co at Kitchen28 have a Family Easter Egg Hunt up at Belmont Demesne, running on Saturday 4th, Sunday 5th and Monday 6th, from 11am to 4pm daily. It’s €10 per child, which includes parking at Belmont and, more importantly, a full-sized Easter egg once the hunt is done agus dusted. You can grab your spot here.

Newtown has its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 4th, 12pm to 2pm, where kids will receive a medium-sized egg and a free ice cream from Lorraine’s. Organised by Newtown Tidy Towns, it’s €5 per child, meeting at the Church Road side of the woods, with a maximum of 300 children. You can email here for further details.

A little further afield, the Russborough House Easter Trail runs daily till April 12th, 11am to 4pm, there are springtime activities aplenty at Greenan Maze, also till April 12th, it’s Rhododendron Week at Kilmacurragh Gardens from April 3rd to 12th, 9am to 5pm, Festina Lente has an Easter Egg Hunting Workshop running on April 4th and 5th, 10am to 11am and 12pm to 1pm, Beyond The Trees has Alice In Wonderland: The Mad Hatters Easter Show from April 4th to 6th, there’s Easter At Glenroe Farm from April 4th to 6th, 10am to 5pm daily, and Killruddery House & Gardens have their annual Easter Treasure Trail on April 5th and 6th, 10am to 3.30pm.

Lynne Reece Loftus has her popular 5-day CROÍ Arts & Crafts Easter Camp running from Monday, March 30th to Friday, April 3rd, 10am to 1.30pm, and aimed at kids from 6 to 12 years. Details here.

Next door to Squirrel’s Scramble, your kid can get even more outdoor kicks with Alive Outside – those clever people behind Hell & Back – and their plethora of Easter camps at Killruddery. The all-bouncing, all-dancing SaranB Dance & Fitness Easter Camp will take place at The Naz in behind Aldi (through Burnaby Lawns, if you’re driving) from March 30th to April 2nd, from 10am to 2pm daily. Beyond all the mad dancing activities include games, arts & crafts, an Easter egg hunt and buckets more. Young Emeka Meeks will be sharing some of his professional football skills with our future footie stars down at the Charlesland Sports Park as he hosts two Easter camps aimed at players from 6 to 12 years, the 5-day camp kicking off on March 30th and the 4-day camp from April 7th, 10am to 2pm daily. More details here.

Running from March 30th to April 2nd plus April 7th to 10th, the Squirrel’s Scramble Easter Camps are one of the most popular around here for kids who like to go a little nuts in nature. With Easter camps for starters, intermediates and show-offs, Belmont Bike Farm up in Belmont Demesne is the perfect spot for kids to get some thrills on wheels. Aimed at mountain bikers 6 years and over, the Starter camp is Monday 30th, Intermediate Tuesday and Wednesday, and the Advanced is Thursday and Friday, all 10am to 12pm. Details here, booking here.

The Anyone 4 Science gang have a two-day Vet School for Kids happening up at Greystones Educate Together, aimed at dedicated young animal lovers aged 6 to 10 years. Where the veterinarians of tomorrow can learn basic suturing techniques, examine real x-rays to spot injuries, diagnose and ‘treat’ broken bones, amongst other life-affirming goodies. Given that it’s in one of the most beautiful locations around here, right down at the end of The Grove, it’s unsurprising that the Coastal Art Studios’ Easter camps are one of the most popular, young Sophie inviting local kids from 8 to 10 to bring all the colours to St Crispin’s Cell, The North Beach and beyond. Running from Tuesday 7th to Friday 10th, the Wicklow Athletics Hub Easter Camp is all about promoting physical fitness and making connections, all the while having some fun in the sun.
