The festival featured a diverse range of activities, including face painting, stand-up paddleboarding, calisthenics on the beach, beach volleyball, a social 5k run, yoga and a dip, beach table tennis and beach cricket hosted by Greystones Cricket, along with a dedicated “let’s play” area.
Cllr. Melanie Corrigan, Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating, “It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the fantastic facilities at Greystones South Beach. Events like this
highlight the value of our outdoor spaces and encourage more women and girls to try new activities and take advantage of what County Wicklow has to offer.”
Aisling Hubbard, Coordinator of Wicklow Sports and Recreation Partnership, added, “This year, we wanted to focus on encouraging sustainable outdoor recreation habits. The festival was not just about one great day, but about inspiring people to keep moving, to explore nature and incorporate regular physical activity into their lives.”
The Her Outdoors Beach Festival was part of a week-long program featuring over 30 events held from the 11th to the 17th of August across County Wicklow. Delivered in partnership with local clubs, community groups and outdoor providers, the week aimed to inspire participation in a wide variety of outdoor activities for women and girls of all ages and abilities.
