Greystones Folk Group Cough Up The Loot

It was big smiles – and even bigger cheques – all round tonight, as the mighty Greystones Folk Group presented two worthy charities with their recent fundraising harvest.

The money was raised largely through a fine and fun day of busking on Greystones main street back in December, as well as jumble sales, jewellery heists and counterfeiting.

The two charities feeling the Greystones Folk Group love, Lakers and The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust, were represented tonight by Diane Cahill and Colin Bell [father of Kevin] respectively, with Jo Leonard and Mary McCann doing the honours.

With the much-loved Lakers providing a home away from home for many local children and adults with an intellectual disability and The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust helping bereaved families with the cost of bringing a deceased loved one back to Ireland, the two €2,585 cheques will no doubt be money well spent.

Well done to everyone involved. And glad to see that, despite the presence of Anthony and Susan Byrne, the evening passed without incident. Or any broken furniture.
