The century of selfie… SAT30AUG25 John McGowan
hat early morning rain may have suggested that this year’s
Irish Goa Day in Burnaby Park was a noa-goa…
But, as so often happens with Irish summer days, the weather in the afternoon bore no resemblance whatsoever to the weather in the morning.
This annual celebration of unity and friendship between the Irish and Goan communities boasted live music from UK-Goa band Rainbow’s End alongside DJs Kim and Xavier, plus games for kids (including the fishermen fave, Breaking The Coconut), food stalls, crafts and a raffle with great big prizes.
For ringleaders Milla Hancock and Nora Hayden, the whole idea of Irish Goa Day is to have families and friends from all corners recognising all our similarities, whilst dancing to the rhythm of togetherness and indulging in culinary delights from around the world. “It’s all about celebrating the bonds that bring us all together,” says Milla.
Yowsa!
Also bringing everyone together on the day was our trusty whipper-snapper, John McGowan – you can check out his full gallery of hi-res pics here.
And after you’ve done that, you can go check out last year’s hooley here. Or else.
