Jody Connaughton Has Passed

e was always one of the sunniest people you could ever hope to meet, with a smile that never seemed to leave his face, always peaking out behind that monster of a moustache…

And now, sadly, after a hard-fought battle with cancer, Jody Connaughton passed away early this morning.

The man has been a big part of Greystones life, from those early GRAPE markets down at the harbour to his classic photographs of local landmarks, and the fact that he would always set you right when it came to any crash, bang, wallops with your computer.

And then there was just the happy sight of seeing Jody with his wife, Melissa, and their trusty dog, Buttons, walking up through town, always happy, and always looking like they’re up to something good.

The man will be missed…

Jody’s family have written the following to share on the Guide…

We are saddened to lose Jody Connaughton this morning, a true member of the Greystones community. After battling cancer for over 6 years, Jody passed peacefully this morning at 5am.

Jody was heavily rooted in the community, from his famous harbour photography, daily walking with his wife Mellissa, his involvement in GRAPE, fixing your wifi and laptops, but mostly for going out of his way with a friendly hello and an outstanding moustache.

Jody was a family man, an amazing husband and friend to everyone who was lucky enough to know him.

Condolences to Melissa, Jason, Charlotte, Simon, Beryl, Keith, Carol and all of Jody’s extended family and friends.

There will be a ceremony to celebrate Jody’s life at Mount Jerome on Thursday at 4pm. Details here.
