Keep On Runnin’

It’s going to be a very different St Stephen’s Day Goal Mile for Patricia O’Regan this year.

For one, the poor woman is on crutches.

And then there’s the little matter of that fecker Covid-19 putting a scupper on the traditional gathering of Greystones GOAL buddies this year.

And so the noted charity is encouraging people to Run Apart, Stand Together, as they launch their Virtual GOAL Mile Run for 2020.

“This year, we are asking that you run, walk, cycle or swim your mile anytime between now and December 31st,” explains Patricia. “So, no need to brave the lashing rain, wind, snow or ice. It also means that, for the first time ever, people from all over the globe can join in on Greystones’ annual GOAL run.”

Having hit the dizzying fundraising heights of €7,500 for one year’s run, Patricia is hoping that even more people will be encouraged to take part in 2020. “Their funding is needed more than ever this year,” she adds.

Planning to do 100 miles for GOAL despite losing her hip from AVN – an “overnight heart attack in the bone” – Patricia will be pounding the roads on her crutches this year. So, keep your pet hedgehogs firmly in the garden.
