My Lunches With Elvis #20: Camile Thai

The Sun King…

t was way back in March when we last caught up with The King for a quick lunchtime bite.

The fact that Elvis had since left not only the building but the country was initially all of a bit of a wild adventure, as he ended up nestled comfortably in sunny Chester. 

Then, his phone went AWOL. And the artist formerly known as Alan Adamston took to a-wanderin’ once more, hitting Liverpool, Manchester and London.

It was in the latter that proceedings took a decidedly worrying Babe: Pig In The City turn, with pictures emerging on a London Facebook page of a lone and seemingly lost Elvis at various landmarks in the capital. So, we put out the call, emailing those who had posted pics, giving them a number for Alan to call, so his family could sort out his return.

To cut a long journey short, the man got back into his own bed just last week, and is clearly very, very happy to be home. “It got pretty nasty out there,” says Alan today. “London is not a nice place. And I got robbed in Liverpool. Manchester was okay – they loved me in Manchester. But this is where I belong. Won’t be travelling again…”

To celebrate the great man’s return to Greysland, we opted for Camile Thai’s rather nifty €7.99 lunch specials. The only shock being, eh, they don’t sell coffee. Which is just as well, because The King and I drank some free range lemonade instead. Much healthier.

As always, the big question for the big man remains – did Camile Thai deliver a lunch fit for The King…?
