aking place at the Community Centre, the weekly Newcastle market is your one-stop shop for all things yummy, and woolly.

Running from 10.30am to 12.30pm each Saturday, there will be freshly-baked goodies alongside the crafts and curiosities.

Naturally, with lockdowns looming still, Covid-19 restrictions are in place, including a one-way system and masks on every mug.

On offer? Says the gang, “lovely fresh veg (only out of the ground a few hours) bread, cakes, eggs, jams, marmalade, chutney, cordial, quiche, pies, plants, flowers, soaps, knitting, crafts and beautiful handmade chopping boards, along with much, much more“.

And they also stock some popular goodies from the much-missed The Three Q’s – including their relish, their ketchup and Granny Q’s brown bread.

All in all, a grand way to start your day. And be part of a 55-year history, with one fine participant, June, having been there on the market’s opening day back in 1970.
