“Hey, howya doin’? The name’s Shoobs – don’t ask me why – and I’m a very Great Dane, seven on my next birthday. Even though I don’t look a day over four, right…?
“I’m down here in one of my favourite places in the whole wide Wicklow – The Cove – with my master, Anú, and her other pet, Tim. Tim is part of the gang, from what I can gather, to teach Anú philosophy, art, theology, archictecture and all that good stuff, whilst I’m here just to keep at bay those little yapping dogs who tend to suddenly appear out of nowhere.
“What the heck is their problem? Don’t these little midget feckers know I could squash them with just one paw? And yet, they come running, again and again, yipping and yapping like they’re Jean-Claude van Damme on steroids.
“Other than that, life is sweet. Anú is kind enough to take Tim and I not only to The Cove but also the South Beach, and that wonderful stretch along Kilcoole seafront too. Oh, and the woods in Kindlestown. And Glen Of The Downs. And Newtownmountkennedy.
“So, spoilt to high heaven. But then, look at me – how could you not want to spoil me? Tim’s just lucky to be my buddy, along for the ride…”
