aving shared quite a big chunk of their lives with one another, the big 80th birthday bash was as much about Danny Hatton as his rockin’ other half, Marie.
It’s hard to believe, looking at Danny Hatton, that he’s going to be 80 tomorrow. The man looks pretty much the same as he did way back in 1951, when, as a 15-year-old, he started what became a 45-year job with the Greystones library.
Maybe he found the secret to eternal youth in one of those books. Or maybe it was the 20 years working as an usher down in the Ormonde cinema that gave him the insight, via cinematic masterpieces from all over the world, of life’s rich tapestry. And how best to weave it.
Then again, it could be all that clean air and good exercise that comes with being pretty much The Godfather of GAA here in Greystones.
Then again, it could just be the cocaine.
Personally, we reckon it all swings back to the woman being showered with flowers, hugs and congrats as we walked in to the Greystones Golf Club birthday bash this evening..
We managed to grab five minutes with the man of the hour, and his guiding light, as well as their six ridiculously handsome kids, before all the grandchildren were sent off to bed and the party really kicked off…
