Just close your eyes, and dream…
From the moment the limo sent by BMW picked him up at his ma’s place on Lower Kindlestown Road, Rob Lawless knew he was in for a pretty wonderful day.

The Lawless clan
Having been given a spot on today’s Irish Open Pro Am at the K Club by the rather snazzy German car giant, Greystones golfing legend Rob had nothing to lose today. Everything was win. Even just being there.
Having been teamed up with five-time European Tour title holder Michael Hoey, Rob – who teaches at the Glen Of The Downs Golf Club – had to bring his A Game to the K Club today. And that he did.

He also brought his lovely partner, Kim, his sweet sister, Elaine, and, of course, his mum. Oh, and some local chancer, Kenny Lewis, who offered to caddy for Rob in return for a ride in the limo.
After that 9.30am limo ride, Rob and co sat down to lunch at 11am before, you know, heading out onto the golf course with some of the greatest players in the world. Followed by a camera crew. Followed by autograph hunters. Followed by dinner.
As my old ma always says, “He might be a lucky, lucky bastard, but that boy deserves every damn second of his feckin’ good fortune”.
Here, Richie Dodd from the Glen Of The Downs Golf Club presents a video diary of Rob’s excellent adventure, whilst below, some pics from the big day…
