THE ARTIST by The Artist

I have been drawing for as far back as I can remember…

Scribbling on book covers, hands, arms and tables, all through class, and all through school.

After my Leaving Cert, I did a one-year foundation course in Fine Art; following that I went to College at Letterkenny Institute of Technology.

After a few failed attempts at Graphic Design – clearly was not for me! – I headed to Galway, where I stayed for 8 years. Mainly because I met like-minded people, and that encouraged me to delve into my artistic talents wholeheartedly! I had my first exhibition there. Following that, I went to collage at the Letterkenny Institute of Technology, where I obtained a diploma in Graphic Design.

Painting has always been a spiritual process for me. I am inspired by many things, mostly music and emotions…

Having my moon in Cancer, I am a deeply emotional person, and painting allows me to express myself. Paint what I feel.

I have no idea what a painting will look like till it’s finished. I love that mystery. No guidelines to follow…

The music I choose often gives me the colours I am going to use, along with some candles, a couple of beers, my own private party! The rest just flows!

No negative thoughts invade this state of mind; I am so blessed with this gift.

There are a lot of moons and water in my work, representing intuition and movement/change. The paintings I have chosen for you all have that Mystical Watery Moon….

My Influences…

David Bowie
What can I say that hasn’t been said before…? Absolute genius.
I am so inspired by his ability to change and morph with his music, time and time again. A true artist and incredible human being.

Kate Bush
Kate has always been an inspiration. Hounds Of Love was one of the first singles on vinyl I ever bought. She sings from her very soul. Which may be why her music is very healing for me. Love her!!!

David Byrne
Truly inspirational also! So much music to choose from all his many incarnations. It always lifts me, and my colours are suddenly brighter! Fantastic artist!
