Elsie with prize, dad & mildly jealous sister TUES10MAY22
lways takes a few more days than it should to count up our Splash Of Colour 2022 votes.
That’s because each year, the sheer number of entries, and the gargantuan load of votes, gets bigger and bigger.
Daisy Age by Evan Coogan
There were plenty of serious contenders for the Splash Of Colour throne this year, including Evan Coogan’s The Daisy Age, Daragh Hanlon’s Our Bear At Sunrise and Summer Truckin’ by Jaelon, the latter somehow getting hooked by our kids art competition even though he lives all the way over in South Africa.
In the end, there was one very clear winner though; Elsie McConville’s Burnaby Park.
And when the talented 9-year-old picked up her Sweet Boutique hamper this afternoon, she was quick to point out that she would be sharing her yummy prize with her 7-year-old sister, Kate, whose Tulip Garden also got a plethora of votes.
“Can’t believe I won,” says Elsie. “I really enjoy drawing and the park is one of my favourite places in Greystones. So, it was easy to put the two together…”
Congrats to all the entries this year, and thanks, as always, to Goldfish Communications for sponsoring this annual explosion of colour and imagination.
