s with so much of the road and construction works around here, there was ne’er a word from our friends down at the Greystones Municipal District office about the pétanque piste in Burnaby Park finally opening..

With the funding campaign announced in May 2023, and the works beginning back in September 2024, the news popped up on Facebook this evening that the boules are finally in our court.

We are all set. The Petanque Piste has been opened. Thank you to Ruiari O’Hanlon and Cllr. Lourda Scott, Greystones Municipal District for their hard work on this.

Anyone can join. Maybe use this forum to talk about the pétanque piste and pétanque in Greystones, as well as maybe set up times. Once we have members/people in the group, and if there is appetite for it, we could build a club (with all the advantages that come with it).

Equipment is purchased but currently how to properly keep track and loan it hasn’t been set out yet. I will update once we have sussed that out. If there are any queries around rules regulations etc, feel free to ask and i will gladly help.

The piste length wise can accommodate 3 games (3m x 3) x 15m. Otherwise, the other way is sideways, with 9m piste (ideally should be up to 10m – but we aren’t going to be checked by the FFPJP). So we could get 4-5 games at the same time.

Please be courteous to your fellow players and the residents around the park, poor behaviour will lead to problems.
