The Brass Fox Makes Tourist Bar Of The Year

Wicklow’s finest…

t was a grand night out for Wicklow’s sister pubs The Brass Fox and O’Shea’s Corner at the Clayton Hotel in Dublin last night.

Not only were this motley crew allowed in, but once there, the Fox gang only went and picked up bronze for Tourist Pub Of The Year.

And that’s not all. Their sibling from, you know, around the corner picked up Best Newcomer, Bar Manager Of The Year (in the muscular and handsome shape of Anthony Byrne) and Best Bar to Watch The Match. Yowsa!

The 2023 Bar Of The Year awards are a  really big deal, just in case you didn’t know, and only the Guinness cream de la cream get to walk away with a gong.

Dublin seemed to dominate on the night, with wins for Bar No.23, The Sidecar Bar, Buskers On The Ball, The Gables, Brazen Head, The Black Forge, Lemon & Duke, BAR 1661, 37 Dawson Street, r.i.o.t., House Dublin, Kenny’s of Lucan, The Landmark, FIRE Steakhouse & Bar, Mama Yo, The Stag’s Head, Roe & Co Distillery, Lock 13 Brewpub and Kodiak.

Which is all handy to know if you’re planning a pub crawl in the big city.

But keeping the Flamin’ Moes burning for Wicklow was The Brass Fox and O’Shea’s Corner, both opened by a rather clever and stylish Greystones couple, Kevin and Lindsay.

And it’s important to point out, of course, that these wins only happened because half the staff involved are from Greystones. Fact.

Congrats to all the winners, but mainly to The Brass Fox and O’Shea’s Corner, who were both also up for the People’s Choice Award. Landing four big prizes covering the entire country – bejiggers agus befeckinjapers!
