ith their sister bars The Brass Fox and O’Shea’s Corner picking up all kinds of awards from day one, is it any wonder that more and more people are having their big nights out down in Wicklow Town.

Sitting pretty on their mantlepiece is Tourist Pub Of The Year for The Brass Fox, whilst O’Shea’s Corner arrived with a bang in 2023 with Best Newcomer, Bar Manager Of The Year and Best Bar To Watch The Match.

The brainchildren of Greystones couple Kevin and Lindsay, for now, let’s look at the latter, a fine place for stand-up comedy and trad sessions, for quiz nights and speed dating, for your yums yums and, of course, your rock agus roll.

Which is why we thought it wise to start pulling together just what O’Shea’s Corner are getting up to, eh, just around the corner…

It’s perhaps Ireland’s greatest ever sitcom, and one that writers Arthur Matthews and Graham Linehan only realised long after it was finished happened to be, at heart, Only Fools And Horses with priests. And on Friday, May 29th and Saturday 30th, O’Shea’s Corner will be celebrating their divine diddley-aye-potatoes creation as the great Patrick McDonnell and the fairly good Joe Rooney unite once again for another Father Ted Special. It’s three-for-one on Friday, July 3rd and Saturday 4th for the latest Wicklow Comedy Club night at O’Shea’s Corner, Fred Cooke being joined by Gar Murran and Paul Marsh, the latter taking on the role of MC. The boys are there over two nights, Friday tickets here, Saturday tickets here.

Having started out in the US as Beer & Braids for drinking dads who’d like to know how to fix their daughters’ hair, O’Shea’s sister bar The Brass Fox will be playing host to Pints & Ponytails from 8pm to 9.30pm this evening. Organised by Lucy Thompson, your €30 entry gets you two pints and a mannequin head to learn those all-important ponytail, braids and hairstyling tips.
