Fenella!

e spoke with the forever feckin’ fabulous Fenella back in September, as the little Greystones bookshop her mum started celebrated its 28th birthday.

Which, for any kind of shop, is one hell of an achievement.

For a bookshop, up against a billion and one computer screens hypnotising the nation, it’s pretty close to a miracle.

Well, that’s what you might think, until you swing into The Village Bookshop, and realise the reason behind all that success is that this is a little gem of a shop. With a surprisingly large, Narnia-esque interior.

Having grown over the years – an extension here to handle their ever-growing children’s section, a whole new stationery section over there – just like mum Mairead, daughter Fenella has always moved with the times whilst also keeping her eye on the prize.

A good book. 

Located right in the heart of Greystones (right in the middle of the main street, to be exact), The Village Bookshop has it all, from bestsellers to children’s toys, from groovy journals to what appear to be life-sized atlas box sets. And to top it all, Fenella and co also have the wrapping paper to make it present-ready.

It helps too when you have staff who have dedicated over half their lives to the joy of books.

So, swing by today, and check out just what The Village Bookshop has to offer. Probably best to bring a fold-out chair. And a flask.
