ith interviews with everyone from the BBC to The New York Times over the past six weeks, Greystones’ Delia Barry might just be Ireland’s most famous knitter right now.

And rightly so, given that her meticulous creations – seen in movies such as Dancing At Lughnasa and the recent Oscar non-fave The Banshees Of Inisherin – have been seen around the globe.

The response to Delia’s work has been overwhelming, and hugely positive, these jumpers, cardigans and hats representing a tradition that stretches back to the West of Ireland in the late 19th century.

And Delia is about to knit a tailor-made Aran jumper each for four lucky winners in a new Greystones Cancer Support raffle.

As representative of old Ireland as Guinness, an Irish stew and fighting in car parks, the Aran jumper can even make Brendan Gleeson look sexy.

And with that, this one-off, fitted Delia Barry creation has been won by one very lucky – and now very warm – Greystonian, the one agus only Stu Daly, who settled for a Colin Farrell blue from that crock of Martin McDonagh codology.
